Microsoft Prepares for Major Exchange Server Releases (CU15 & SE)
Great things are coming to Microsoft on-premises Exchange! Microsoft has announced the new Exchange Server SE (Subscription Edition), set to launch in Q3 2025, offering a seamless in-place upgrade from the upcoming Exchange 2019 CU15 cumulative update. The new Exchange SE edition will be supported with regular updates under a modern lifecycle policy.
Before the release of Exchange Server SE, we will see the next Cumulative Update, CU15 for Exchange 2019. Set to arrive before the end of 2024, CU15 is bringing important new features such as TLS 1.3, improved certificate management, and Windows Server 2025 support!
As part of these announcements, Microsoft has confirmed that Exchange Server 2013 is no longer supported and cannot co-exist with 2019 CU15 and 2019 SE. Organizations should be planning their upgrade path to 2019 CU15 and SE to avoid security risks and ensure continued support.
